A more efficient inspection of animal production in the Czech Republic to improve health protection of its population

In recent weeks, the Aquasoft company has put into operation new modules of a unique information system whose aim is to facilitate a trouble-free trade in animal products within the framework of the EU and to ensure their high quality. The system which was developed for the State Veterinary Administration of the Czech Republic, checks an extensive part of the chain of production, processing and sale of all animal production outputs in the Czech Republic, including connection to various inspection mechanisms within the framework of the EU.

The Czech Republic, being a member state of the European Union, has agreed to implement applicable Directives in the field of animal production. That is why the State Veterinary Administration (SVS ÈR), together with the Aquasoft company, has developed an information system without which it would not be possible to achieve the standards required. One of the many objectives of the information system is to help to detect and identify in time any possible risks and prevent those animal products that are harmful in terms of health protection from being released to the market, to register and eliminate animal infection propagation, including the monitoring of the correct handling of these animals in such phases as breeding, transport, etc. “The laboratory results of animal production inspection are processed electronically through a direct connection of the system to specialised laboratories. This makes it possible to achieve their more exact and faster evaluation which facilitates a more efficient response of SVS ÈR in the case of a possible endangerment of consumer health,” says Michal Opat, Project Manager at the Aquasoft company.

The new modules of the SVS information system include:

  1. A module for registration of the hygienic supervision steps – it supports the agenda dealing with the issues of health harmlessness of processing and preparation of final animal products (foodstuffs), including the compliance with correct hygienic conditions in individual food processing plants and shops.
  2. A module for the monitoring of foreign substances – it supports planning and subsequent sampling of products of an animal origin, for the purpose of inspection of limit values of individual harmful parameters.
  3. A module for registration of welfare measures – it deals with protection of animal welfare and with prevention of cruelty to animals.

Further development of the SVS information system is prepared for the future. This concerns especially a new module for the work with focal points of infections and their protection zones or also further integrations of the entire system with regard to the information systems relating to the veterinary issues within the framework of the European Union, such as the Cross-compliance inspection systems for subsidy titles of the EU in the field of agriculture.

Aquasoft has already implemented special systems for SVS ÈR in the past, e.g. a system for registration of import and export to and from the Czech Republic, as well as the information systems supporting registration and inspection of slaughters of farming animals in slaughterhouses, or also a system supporting preventive activities for live animals bred for farming purposes, such as their vaccination, nation-wide curative programmes, etc.
